When asked why she chose to participate in the project here is what Kristen Anderson-Lopez had to say,

“In spring of 2009 I was seated across from Jodi Glucksman at a fundraising dinner and before I was halfway through with the appetizer, I knew I had found a new friend and kindred spirit. So when Jodi called me and spoke so passionately about this project I was already on board. And then Jodi started talking about Jill’s five-year battle with breast cancer and the husband and young children she left behind. As a wife and mother of two very young children myself, her story resonated very deeply and I wanted to do something to honor her life and her family, and to aid in the fight against this devastating disease which takes too many of us mothers from our children far too soon.”
